Happy Christmas!!

Another December and another year behind us!

Midst the doom and gloom of the economy my daughter and I took ourselves off to Andre Rieu’s concert at the Olympic Stadium last week. It was a such a wonderful evening –one of those rare occasions where everyone was happy, strangers intermingled and chatted to each other in anticipation of what was ahead.  We sang, we laughed, we danced, though my daughter temporarily disowned me when I took off in the arms of the very gentlemanly Asian man sitting next to me and walzed down the aisle to the strains of The Blue Danube.

Like many of us, I am preparing to go ‘home’ for Christmas, with most of my immediate family.  My parents live on the Queensland coast, where at this time of year the weather is hot and sunny, the surf warm and the atmosphere casual and relaxed – an ideal place to spend the Christmas holidays with mum and dad, my husband Tony and our immediate family. Some family members can’t make it this year – only 3 out of 5 children will share the Christmas table with us.  A son will be ‘minding the office’ in Sydney (his office, not mine!) and a daughter is working on an elephant conservation project in Thailand, and apparently the ellies can’t spare her! However, we are lucky that even 3 of our adult children want to travel interstate to share Christmas Day with us, so I am thankful for what we have.

And speaking of thanks – I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ for your letters, your good wishes and for your support of Good Night and God Bless. I wish you and your family the happiest of Christmas days and a healthy and happy 2009.

‘Til next time….
