A New Year

Hello again!

I do hope you had a great Christmas and a relaxing holiday season.

If you are anything like me, then over the past few weeks you will have eaten too much, drunk too much, taken a couple of feel-good walks, broken the New Year’s res.  and read dozens of books that piled up beside the bed over the past year. My first book of 2009 was Tim Winton’s ‘Breath’ about the sea, surfing and growing older and  read in the most appropriate setting - beneath a shady tree on the beach in Noosa. Later, in search of some more reading I had a treat in store.  I came across a wonderful cubbyhole of a bookshop (Annies Bookshop in Kingfisher Drive) in a busy little beachside village called Peregian, just a few kilometres south of Noosa. Annie, the owner is well known to the locals and sources the hard to get and unusual titles – you won’t find anything ordinary or boring here – which is probably the reason an endless stream of people drop by for a browse and a chat. I walked out with enough books to start my own library and the pile beside the bed  isn’t any smaller. If you love reading and are in this part of the world I recommend a visit – it is quite impossible to leave empty-handed. And yes, Good Night and God Bless is sitting on the shelves!

Til next time…
